Urban forestry tools are evolving rapidly, and this workshop is your opportunity to get hands-on with what’s next. Join us for a practical, full-day session designed for councils, consultants, and tree care professionals who want to align their teams, streamline workflows, and maximize the value of their data. Through live demonstrations, peer case studies, expert insights, and outdoor fieldwork, you’ll explore how the latest desktop and mobile tools, including the TreePlotter™ suite, can support more efficient, informed urban tree inventory and canopy management.

10:00 – 10:30 AM | Introductions & Roundtable Start with participant introductions to build rapport and shared interests among attendees.
10:30 – 11:15 AM | PlanIT Geo & TreePlotter: Where We Are Now Ian Hanou, Founder & CEO of PlanIT Geo, presents customer stories from around the world, providing an overview of how public, private, and nonprofit sectors use TreePlotter software to improve decision-making and resource allocation. Examples will include tree inventory work management, greening projects to reduce urban heat, the 3+30+300 Rule, and all aspects of canopy-related work, from citywide goals to project-level calculations and AI advancements.
11:15 – 11:45 AM | Your Tree Management in Focus with Orlando Allen Orlando, a Senior Consultant and Arborist with Urban Forest Training, will showcase practical applications of TreePlotter and organizational workflows. Drawing on decades of experience in arboriculture, forestry, GIS, and project management, he will share insights into reporting, risk assessment, and policy development. Orlando will also explore approaches to regeneration in post-mining landscapes and management of peri-urban forests.
11:45 AM – 12:15 PM | Your Tree Management in Focus with Roger Rankine Roger, the Managing Director of Independent Arboricultural Services, will continue the series with real-world consultancy use cases of TreePlotter. His presentation will emphasize flexibility, client engagement, and problem-solving, highlighting how practitioners integrate TreePlotter into both routine and complex projects. 12:15 –
1:15 PM | Catered Lunch Break Enjoy a relaxed, catered lunch and informal networking.
1:15 – 1:45 PM | What’s Next for TreePlotter Take an exclusive look at “TP3”, the next generation of TreePlotter. This session will introduce the redesigned platform architecture and mobile app, both developed to improve speed, usability, and collaboration.
1:45 – 2:15 PM | Soil Science for Urban Green Spaces Katia Plouznikoff will provide an informative presentation into soil science in the urban environments to promote better tree management with organic sustainable practices to help make our environment greener.
2:15 – 3:00 PM | Indoor & Outdoor Tree Mapping Session Head outside to plot and survey trees in the Botanic Garden using mobile data collection tools, or stay indoors for data & work management demonstrations.
3:00 – 4:00 PM | Final Q&A + Wrap-Up Return indoors for specific software demonstrations, closing discussion, sharing key takeaways, and connecting with peers
