How you’ll make a difference
Based at our Coombabah depot you will work as part of a crew whose main focus is to carry out juvenile tree planting activities.
Other activities include pruning & maintenance and improvements of parks, landscaped and recreation areas within the City’s open space regions and road network.Â
- Undertake arboriculture maintenance and improvements of our high-profile foreshore parks, landscaped and recreation areas.
- Operate and maintain plant and equipment including trucks, chippers, elevated work platforms and general arboriculture equipment.
- Participate in identified training programs to increase skills and knowledge, contributing to the continual improvement of the section.
Please note that climbing is not a requirement of the position – these activities are performed by contractors.
What you bring to your new role
- Certificate II in Arboriculture (or higher) or a related discipline.
- C Class Drivers Licence Unrestricted (or higher) (Mandatory)
- General Construction Induction White CardÂ
- A high-level of customer service and communication skills, a can-do attitude and a team player.
- A high level of motivation and adaptability, with the ability to prioritise work and multi-task in a dynamic environment.
- A working knowledge of arboriculture practices with practical experience in tree maintenance and tree removals
- Sound physical health in order to satisfactorily perform the physically demanding duties of the position.

Key Responsibilities:
Plan, direct, and coordinate all operational activities.

Experienced Climbing Arborist
AVM is growing! We’re looking for a new crew member to join our tight knit tree company based in Cairns. We are all about doing quality tree work, having each other’s back and being a positive place to work.
We are looking for a reliable and experienced climbing arborist who enjoys providing high-quality tree care services in a positive team environment.
Some of the Preferred Skills you may have which are highly regarded:
- Certificate III Arboriculture
- Minimum 2 years’ experience.
- Medium Rigid Licence (preferred but not essential).
- Work as part of a team with a mature outlook and good communication skills
- The ability to rig trees like a legend and to smash out some decent sized removals.

If you know the tree industry, then you know it isn’t a walk in the park every day. You’ve got to love working outdoors, enjoy physical work, be a team player and have a willingness to learn. Responsibilities will cover all aspects of arboricultural work including but not limited to: Tree climbing, removals & pruning as well as training and mentoring our apprentice arborists.
