30 YEAR GALA AWARDS

In recognition of 30 years of the QAA, we are celebrating with an awards ceremony as part of our Gala Dinner at the Hotel Grand Chancellor Brisbane on 19 November, 2022. 

The following awards will be presented on the night:

Apprentice of the Year

  • Nomination must be made by someone other than the nominee.
  • Nominee must be a current apprentice or trainee who the nominator has worked with.

 

Mentor of the Year

  • Nomination must be made by someone other than the nominee.
  • The person nominating the mentor must have personally worked with, or been mentored by, the nominee or have seen them acting as a mentor. 
  • There are no time restrictions for when the nominee acted as a mentor.

Best Picture Award

  • Anyone can submit a photo.
  • Image must be related to the arboricultural industry or taken during your work eg. from up a tree. 
  • Image can be an aerial photo, or one featuring people or scenery.
  • No videos.  
  • Image must be clear/sharp. 
  • Image must show safe work practices.
  • Image must not show practices that don’t meet industry standards.

Sustainable Practices Award

  • Anyone can submit a nomination on behalf of themselves, their business or someone else. 
  • To be considered for this award you must be able to demonstrate at least one of the following:
    • How you have been replenishing the environment
    • How you have been protecting the environment
    • How you are changing your business to be more sustainable / environmentally friendly.

Industry Innovation Award

  • Anyone can submit a nomination on behalf of themselves, their business or someone else.
  • The innovation can be an invention, equipment, process, or procedure that directly contributes to the industry.

 

Lifetime Member Award

  • Nomination must be made by someone other than the nominee.
  • Lifetime membership is awarded once every 5 years, unless there is a special situation where a past committee member has provided exceptional service.
  • Lifetime membership is awarded to past QAA committee members who have shown dedicated service to the QAA and the arboricultural industry.
  • Nominees must have served on the QAA Executive Committee or Sub Committee without bias or hidden agenda for 2 years.
  • Lifetime membership is for the life of the member.

 

All nominations will be assessed by out of state representatives to reduce unconscious bias.

Nominations open on Monday 4 July and close on Friday 2 September, 2022.

The names and nomination reasons of the top 5 shortlisted nominees will be published in October to be voted on by the public. 

The winner will be announced at the QAA 30 Year Gala Dinner on Saturday 19 November, 2022.

To submit a nomination, please click on the relevant award category above. You are able to nominate in as many categories as you wish. If you are nominating more than one person/business per category, please submit new nomination forms for each person/company.
