WORKSHOP POSTPONED

ALL ATTENDEES MUST HOLD A CURRENT CHAINSAW QUALIFICATION

Shane is a Eumundi based artist who uses chainsaws and traditional carving techniques to make nature inspired sculptures.

His mentor was Bundaberg’s late Arthur Nobby Clark, who passed away in March 2017 and was best known for his Denizens of the Deep.

Shane’s largest sculpture stands more than 2m in height and his smallest is relief carving which is suitable for wall hanging.

He started carving with chisels and progressed to Arbortech carving discs on grinders, and in the last year he has started using more chainsaws, to create larger sculptures.

In this workshop you will learn the art of Chainsaw Carving!

Shane’s teaching approach is to repeat 3-4 basic techniques, over and over, the fundamentals to sculpting in 3D, and questions and answers as you go.

Students must bring their own saw/s, logs and PPE. 2 x Logs of camphor or softwood of choice. 350-400mm diameter and 1200-1500 tall. (One log is a spare)
