Join us for a comprehensive workshop designed to enlighten arborists, (contractors, consultants, managers, business owners, and students) about the crucial role of fungi in tree health and forest ecosystems.
Possessing a basic understanding of the evolutionary relationship between trees, fungi and other micro-organisms is crucial for arborists who are assessing, maintaining and working with trees. It’s important for today’s arborists to possess basic fungi identification skills and possess a basic understanding of the importance of the relationships and interactions that exist between trees and fungi, their evolution, forms and functions, morphology, ecology, classifications and reproductive processes.
Attendees should leave with a better understanding of how fungi can be a benefit or detriment to trees and how to identify a range of commonly observed fungi and interpret the likely impact on its host.

The ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) course provides an opportunity for professionals in the arboriculture industry to expand their knowledge through education and training in the fundamentals of tree risk assessment. This qualification promotes the safety of people and property by providing a standardised and systematic process for assessing tree risk. The results of a tree risk assessment can provide tree owners and risk managers with the information to make informed decisions to enhance tree benefits, health, and longevity.
The Tree Risk Assessment Qualification Course is a two-day educational course followed by a 1/2-day assessment that includes both a written and field component. The course prepares the participant to take the TRAQ assessment to become ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified. It is required that you attend the course and successfully complete the assessment in order to receive the ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification.
The course cost includes all course materials, lunch, and refreshments on both training days and welcome refreshments upon arrival for the exam.
The Tree Risk Assessment Qualification is valid for five (5) years from the date the TRAQ exam is passed. The qualification holder is required to retake the course and pass the exam every five (5) years in order to maintain the qualification.

Register for: Forest Biosecurity Awareness Workshop
Forest Biosecurity awareness training will allow Arborists to recognise types of native and invasive pest and disease symptoms in the field. Often an agent causing a problem will have been and gone but it’s the symptoms they leave behind that are important to recognise. It will include types of damage that are specific to a particular agent, which allows a problem to be identified in the field.Â
Pests and diseases are difficult to identify and may need to be sent to a laboratory for diagnosis. This training will teach Arborists the correct sample collection techniques and field photography.
The workshop will also focus on exotic pests and diseases that have the potential to devastate our native forests and forest industries. Trained forest health specialists conduct post border pest and disease surveillance. However, the number of experts is limited. Training Arborists in exotic pest and disease awareness boosts the number of eyes capable of identifying potentially damaging pests and diseases. This will help to highlight future threats increasing our capacity to detect exotic pests and pathogens before they become established.
Early detection is important in reducing the possibility of spread of these exotic pests and establishment in our native and commercial forests.
 Aim
Exotic pests threaten environmental biodiversity values unique to Australia. This training focuses on forest biosecurity awareness and surveillance and aims to increase the capacity of Arborists to detect, report and monitor priority environmental exotic plant pest and disease threats.Â
 Outcome
- Arborists will have the ability to detect symptoms of native and invasive pests and diseases in the field.
- Arborists will learn the correct techniques for collecting pest and disease samples in the field.
- Arborists will gain knowledge on the importance of practicing field hygiene.
- Increased environmental biosecurity awareness, detection and reporting capacity.
- Improved capacity to report on forest health status, as per Australian Government environmental department’s international and statutory responsibilities relevant to invasive species
